Sophie & Alana’s love story
In our blog series, Your Love Story, we interview our beloved couples who have found their dream ring at The Moissanite Company.
After meeting like many modern couples do (on Tinder), Sophie and Alana's romance blossomed thanks to their similar senses of humour and love for sushi, and they're now due to be married in late 2022.
They shared all the details of their proposal, love story and wedding plans with us, and we are so excited to share it with you!
Q. We're in the business of proposals, and never get tired of hearing your stories: tell us all about the moment Sophie proposed!
A. After about six months of extensive behind-the-scenes planning, we took the ferry from where we lived in Townsville, to Magnetic Island, under the guise of staying in a cute Airbnb for the October long weekend. In preparation, I (Sophie) had mentioned to Alana that I wanted to get a couples photoshoot done to send out a cute card for the upcoming Christmas, which was the perfect excuse to get all dressed up and get in front of a camera! On the day, I coordinated a number of surprises in addition to the photographer: a very romantic and intimate picnic on the beach at sunset, her family (who lived interstate) on FaceTime to watch the moment, and a little video I had organised which had recordings from all of her closest family and friends saying a few words for her to watch at the proposal. She cried, I cried, the photographer cried and our picnic lady cried! Afterwards we enjoyed a nice Italian dinner. It was truly an amazing day and a moment we won’t forget.
Q. You've chosen to spend the rest of your lives together, so what is it that you love most about each other & your relationship?
A. After our first date, we couldn't keep away from each other and things progressed - we moved in together a couple of months later.
Sophie: I instantly fell for Alana's extensive knowledge of Harry Potter, dark sense of humour and dad jokes.
Alana: I was struck by Sophie’s witty sarcastic sense of humour!
Q. It's been an honour to play a small part in your love story so far. What made you choose The Moissanite Company and how did you decide on your ring design?
A. We had both been intrigued by Moissanite and felt really strongly about going that way over diamonds. We had done A LOT of research and liked not only the ethical reasons, but also the story behind them and how they came about. After reading and googling, I came across The Moissanite Company, and I truly loved the values of your business and the people behind it. The heart and love that goes into making these amazing pieces means you aren’t just a standard “engagement ring” company trying to push hundreds of expensive rings out. I had amazing contact and support the whole time and have recommended The Moissanite Company to so many people.
Q. While you might be still soaking in the proposal love bubble, have you made any plans for your wedding? We'd love to hear all about it!
A. Yes! Our wedding is this later year, and will be at a beautiful garden venue in Port Stephens (near Newcastle). It will be a very relaxed, boho style wedding with a kombi keg to serve drinks, and food trucks for food, as well as a gelato bike for desert. We are so excited to celebrate our love with our nearest and dearest.
Sophie proposed to Alana with a beautiful Luise Ring™ - Oval solitaire with pavé band and hidden halo.
