Q. How do I clean my moissanite engagement ring?
A. Regular at-home cleaning is key to keeping your ring as sparkly as the day you received it. We recommend doing this once a week, and all you need is a bowl of warm, soapy water, a soft toothbrush, paper towel and your Moissanite Company polishing cloth. Q. How should I store my engagement ring?
A. It’s easy to get into the habit of taking your ring off and placing it on the bench or bedside table, but doing so increases the risk of losing or damaging your ring. Q. Should I get my ring professionally cleaned?
A. While at-home cleaning is perfect for washing away dirt, debris, and makeup that get onto your ring, a professional clean, buff and polish is a step up - the tools and products jewellers use effectively buff out any fine scratches or dents your ring has accumulated over time from everyday wear and tear. We recommend having this done at least once per year, if not more regularly. Q. When should I not wear my engagement ring?
A. We know it’s tempting to wear your ring 24/7 - it’s beautiful and you’re excited to show it off! There are however a few circumstances where we recommend you remove your ring and store it safely at home:
1. Exercising, particularly when lifting weights - the metal from the bars and weights can easily damage your ring band
2. Swimming at the beach or pool - your body temperature can vary a lot when swimming, meaning your fingers can shrink in size and your ring may come off. Pool chemicals also aren’t good for your ring and can ruin the metal.
3. Cleaning - bleach and other harsh cleaning chemicals can damage your ring and dull the metal of your band.
4. Gardening - not only can soil needlessly dirty your ring, but it’s quite a risky activity for losing your ring in the grass, garden bed or pots.
