How to choose the Band Width of your ring
While our signature style here at The Moissanite Company is renowned for being minimal and dainty, we’ve recently expanded the selections for our Signature range of rings to have three band widths to choose from. Although our new options are slightly wider than our initial 1.6mm band width, they still deliver the simplistic and minimal style that you know and love.

Appearance:
One of the biggest considerations to make when selecting your band width is how it will look on your hand. Often if you have smaller hands or thinner fingers, a wider band width can look more significant, so a thinner band may be better suited. If you like minimal, modern style, a thinner band is often the automatic choice, while a wider band width like 2.0mm offers a more traditional style. A thinner band width can also make your stone appear bigger, and a wider band width can make your stone appear smaller.
Durability:

For this reason,1.6mm band width is our thinnest option for ceremonial jewellery, which offers a beautifully minimal look without compromising the structural integrity of your ring. If you are selecting a larger stone size, we often recommend considering a wider band to increase the durability and adequately support the stone.
Cost:
With affordability being one of the key values of our brand, the difference in cost for our three standard band widths is small, but still something to consider when designing your ring. The wider the band, the more metal is required to craft it, which is why there are different costs involved.
Design:
If you’re dreaming of a unique ring design, sometimes a 1.6mm band width isn’t suitable. Designs that feature intricate embossing, bezel set side stones or tapered bands are best suited to wider band widths to allow for the detailed work involved.
At the end of the day, band width is entirely a personal preference, and the best option is the one you love most.
